so, whaddya think? I've been able to get some pretty rockin' tones by plugging an acoustic, especially my 12-string detuned to C#sus4 with a soundhole pickup, into an amp with distortion. It's good for recording, if you can control the feedback! I've seen a number of players do this live, and some sound better than others. I do a couple of songs in my performance where I split the signal between distortion and clean to give a 2-guitar sound, and one sound clarifies and compliments the other quite well too.

I've never had good luck with this... but as always, its a matter of gear, but ultimately a matter of taste.

In my opinion,Acoustic Guitars are great "for their purpose" and there are some AWESOME sounding Acoustics out there like a Martin steel 12-string!
But plugging a non-electric/acoustic Guitar into an Amp and cranking up the distortion doesn't "do it". If you wanna ROCK OUT,use a Fender Strat! It's far easier to play than any Acoustic Guitar (with their basically flat necks) and will give you the ROCKIN Sound your looking for.
For a specific song,it might be best, but the sound of an acoustic guitar played with a hole pickup to an Amp is limited.
You have a number of great guitars,so experimentation is good, but I wouldn't recomend to a beginner who wants the electric rockin sound,to toss an electric pickup into the sound hole on his/her Yamaha G-150 Acoustic.

Yeah, I know it's not the same as electric guitar, I do play electrics and I've been playing for quite a while. For an acoustic thru distortion, well sometimes it works, but yeah, a lot of times most of the acoustic's natural wood tone is lost. The right combination of pickup/amp/distortion will sound great, but it has to be just right, or else it just doesn't add up!

I recommend a *Matchless amplifier if you want to manipulate the electric signal from an acoustic (either miked or transducer). It sounds effing amazing - even through uber distortion, it'll give you a rich, even tone.
